Brand Spotlight: Adilah M
As the weather turns, we are all taking a serious look at our winter wardrobe inventory. I started this work early, unpacking, rewashing, and sorting through the clothes to see what will stay and what will go. I’ve also added a few new jackets, boots, and statement pieces to my collection to breathe new life into my old hits. The two dresses I’m showing in this post are a part of that breath of fresh air.
It’s very seldom that I get to shop with a luxury brand, so partnering with Adilah M to work on this is huge! Four years ago Adilah Muhammad started Adilah M Studio, a high-end brand that focuses on empowering women. Her modest designs have been featured on the runway and the iconic display in the downtown Chicago Macy’s Display window. This black Muslim, women-owned brand is an inspiration and I truly cannot wait to see where A|M takes Adilah.
I typically would not describe my personal style as modest, but the pieces I was sent definitely inspired me. Despite not being traditionally modest or a muslim woman, I was able to create two simple looks that I know will be a staple of my fall wardrobe arsenal. This is the beauty of fashion and style. When you step outside of your own box and get creative, you can pull off anything.

Both items on display today are tunics. I’m styling them both as dresses but they can be worn as shirts as well.
Baddie in Black
Black is a go-to this season. It’s easy to accessorize because we all have so many black items in our wardrobe already. I had lots of options when choosing how to wear this asymmetrical tunic, but I chose to make it edgy.
Showing that little piece of skin above an over the knee boot and a mini skirt or dress is one of my favorite ways to add a little edge or sex appeal to a look. These boots are from amazon and get the job done nicely. It’s probably illegal to attempt to pull off an ‘edgy’ look without some leather so I added my favorite moto jacket to satisfy that need. Simple gold jewelry pulls this all-black look together and now we have a really easy, yet cool fall look.
I would wear this on date night, or dinner with friends. The material of this knit tunic is very soft and comfortable. You could easily wear this with matching black leggings and flat shoes for a more casual, modest look.

Down to earth
2020 has officially brought back brown and I am so grateful. Not only does brown compliment any skin tone, it really brings warmth to the fall season color palette. I enjoy a good tan, beige or cream-colored anything so this tunic was a breeze to style. The asymmetrical tunic gave us edge and night time, but the Geo Knit Tunic is giving me very much street fair, date at an art gallery, late brunch with friends, and Sunday morning errands vibes.
I could have done a lot of things with this tunic but I decided to play up the A-line shape by adding a loose-fitting trucker denim jacket. It took everything in me not to wear another pair over the knee boots with this tunic but I’m glad I chose to give these brown ankle booties a chance. The long line jacket with the almost nude brown boots really plays up my legs and the flirty length of the tunic as a dress. In colder weather, this tunic would look really good with a pair of faux leather pants and boots. You could even create a monochromatic look by wearing nude tights and brown over the knee boots.
Like with the Asymmetrical tunic, the Geo tunic has some really nice, understated detailing that really sets it apart. In both items I felt super confident and very fashionable. The silhouettes created by these items are immaculate and the simple design creates a blank slate that opens up a world of styling opportunities, so get creative!
