My Baby Utility Cart
These carts are available in many colors from retailers like Target, Walmart, Ikea, and Michaels to name a few. Generally, they will cost you around $30. I think the cart was most useful to me for a few reasons. After moving to a different home, we don’t have a dedicated nursery or changing table so this helps a lot when we need to change the baby in different rooms. Also, I now work from home 100% of the time, so instead of having to run back and forth to another room for baby supplies, I simply push the cart into my office and I am ready for anything. But even if your life isn’t identical to mine I think you can find this tool very helpful. I know I do during those late-night feedings and diaper changes!
There is how I have my cart organized:
On this tier, I keep everything I need to use often. Mainly this includes items for diaper changing and feeding. Plenty of diapers, and wipes, my nipple shields and a box of disposable nursing pads.
The height of the cart makes these items at an arms reach while feeding & changing diapers in bed during the middle of the night.
The second tier is where I keep the items I need for pumping milk. The basket on the second tier is the large enough to hold my Spectra 2 breast pump (and necessary parts) along with a box of milk storage bags, my Haakaa and a bottle or two. I usually keep this plugged in while I sleep so if I wake up needing to express milk I can do so effortlessly.
On the third tier I have a spare outfit, burp cloths, swaddle blankets, baby oil & lotion and my cloth breast pads. This tier probably takes the most effort since these items get used and need to be washed often but these are all items I need with baby and I constantly throughout the day.
I really love this cart. It is in my top 3 favorite baby things I have now and I would recommend it to any new mom. Even those mothers who are formula feeding can keep this thing stocked with
water and formula mix to cut out those late night trips to the kitchen. Anybody can use this thing! And once the baby outgrows the need for a traveling arsenal of supplies, these can be used for crafts, a book cart or anything you can dream of. If you need inspiration check out Pinterest
