Mother’s Day is less than a week away and if you’re anything like me, you’re running low on both time and ideas. The last thing you want to do is gift one of the most important women in your life something that is generic and not in tune with who she is as a woman and mother. In grade school, and maybe even college, it was ok to show up with the tried and true mother’s day card and teddy bear. Cards are always nice but now that we are adults ourselves, I think we can admit that those gifts are useless and didn’t require much effort or care at all. As a mother of a toddler, there is nothing I want less than another teddy bear, which will end up belonging to my daughter, in my house. It’s time to let those childish gifts go and step up that gift-giving game
When it comes to picking a gift for my mom, I always think of what I would want to get myself. The moms & grandmothers of today are fashion-forward, go-getters who deserve a higher level of gift-giving. Here are five fresh and new mothers day gift ideas for the trendy mom:
Essential Oil Diffuser
I am a huge fan and advocate for the use of essential oils in the home. My diffuser and oils are crucial in my cleaning, setting the vibe in my home, and even my cold remedy routine. Essential oil diffusers are great just to have but they make especially great gifts for moms because they can be used in place of candles. It’s hard to be in all places and at all times as a mother so there are instances where a baby can knock over or get their fingers into the hot wax of a burning candle. To avoid any possible threat to children or pets but keep the benefit of having an amazing smelling home, a diffuser and starter kit of essential oils is a safe and smart bet for the trendy mom. Try finding a nice-sized diffuser online or in most department stores and pairing the gift with lemon, eucalyptus, lavender, and peppermint oils to start.
Apple Airpods
I got a pair of Apple Airpods as a birthday gift and my life has been forever changed! I can listen to music, take phone calls and listen to my favorite podcasts all while getting things done hands-free. I really wish I would have had these while I was still nursing my daughter. It’s so nice to not have to worry about getting her tangled in cords, or having her snatch them out of my ears altogether. Obviously, you don’t have to buy Apple per say, any pair of Bluetooth headphones will work, but I love the sleek and comfortable design of the Apple Airpods. They are extremely fashionable and not distracting at all from your overall look. Apple really hit the mark with this one!
Stylish Engraved Jewelry
We don’t need another teddy bear or mug with mom stamped on it. Thanks, but please leave that at the store. A much more contemporary spin on this would be to get some stylish engraved jewelry. Busy moms often don’t get the chance to keep their costume jewelry up to date so getting us something we can wear every day is ideal. Things Remembered has a lot of stylish necklaces and bracelets that can easily be turned into a great mother’s day gift that any mom would love. Try a necklace with the birthstone and initials of each of her children’s names on them or a charm bracelet with a different charm for each special child in her life. These fashionable, yet sentimental gifts are sure to be a hit!
Professional Photoshoot
As a mom, I take tons of pictures and videos of my kid and family. It’s more than second nature to me since my phone/camera is always nearby. The only issue is that I’m not in very many of these pictures. There are many reasons for this. For whatever reason my husband isn’t as obsessed with capturing every second of our lives like I am, (how dare he?) so usually he ends up in the pictures and I can’t say “Wait, get one with me!” before the moment passes. Either that or the fact that after getting all of my motherly duties done I usually look like a train wreck. Any picture evidence of this is required to be promptly destroyed. All of these reasons, and many more make a scheduled photoshoot a really great idea for the trendy mom in your life. Whether it’s at a department store photography studio or with a professional photographer, let the mom choose to take pictures alone or alongside her children. These can be super coordinated, with matching outfits or relaxed candid photos at home or at the local park. This gift of memories will be cherished for years to come.
Amazon Prime Membership
On the off chance that you know someone who isn’t an amazon prime-aholic, this membership would be an excellent idea. There are so many benefits to having this membership that anyone will love receiving this as a gift. After paying once a year you have access to free 2-day shipping, which alone is a godsend, but you also get access to Prime Video, Prime Music, and many other Amazon exclusives. The best part of this is that unlike with gifting other memberships or subscription services, you only pay once and you’re done. You don’t have to deal with your card being charged monthly or remembering to cancel it after a certain amount of time. The two-day, sometimes 1-day shipping is really great for moms and women on the go. Often times we can’t make it to the store to pick up those random items we need. Amazon makes it easy by dropping them right at your door in a short amount of time. They even offer a diaper subscription service so you never forget to pick up a box! Any of these gifts would be perfect for your wife, mother of your children, your mom or any of the other moms you are celebrating this May. Even if you decide to go with an option that isn’t on this list, remember to keep your eye out for new, trendy items that are useful and show that you are paying attention to her wants and needs.
