If you are ready to holiday shop but have no idea what to get a baby for Christmas I got you covered! It actually can be a bit of a dilemma deciding on a proper gift/ amount of money to spend on a baby who won’t remember or have extended use of anything you get him/her. But certain gifts are useful, fun and reasonable.
Here are a few suggestions by age of what to buy this holiday season. These are sure to please both parents and babies age 3-24 months.

Gift Ideas for Babies 3-6 Months Old
Exersaucer
I really wanted this exersaucer for my first daughter but we waited until she was too old to buy one. The second time around I purchased one and we loved it. These are great for letting your baby practice standing and keeping them busy while you get things done. They can be a little expensive but if you buy them in a gender neutral color scheme they can last for multiple babies or be given away! The only downside with having an exersaucer is these take up a bit of space. Make sure whoever you are gifting this to wants it and has the room for it.
Door Frame Jumper
These look really fun and like the Exersaucer, they keep your kid in one spot and entertained when you need it. The great thing is that they are a lot cheaper and easier to move around than the Exersaucer. When not in use they can be removed and put away easily. Just remember to install the door frame jumper properly and use as directed to ensure the safety of your baby
Gift Ideas for Babies 6-12 Months Old
Tickle Me Elmo
Yes, the Tickle-Me Elmo toy was introduced in the ’90s but it is still a thing. Babies and toddlers just love Elmo! These are usually on store shelves for $30 so no need to run over any old ladies on black Friday to get one. Elmo toys in general, even if they don’t talk and sing are usually a hit. My 1-year-old plays with the plush Elmo we got our now 4 years old and believe it or not they occasionally fight over it. The ladies love Elmo!
Activity Table
Activity tables are really good for getting your baby up on their feet. There are lots of varieties, with moving parts, lights, and sounds that captivate your little one. I picked mine up from Target, they are pretty much anywhere that baby gear is sold. These are sturdy and last years with little care. The one we got my first daughter just broke down, 4 years later and I’m sure that is because we left it outside all summer. In those 4 years we never even changed the batteries and it still worked fine!
Gift Ideas for Babies 12-24 Months Old
Little Tikes Slide
Technically these Little Tikes slides are for around 18 months but we got ours when my baby was 15 months. She learned how to use it with supervision and now she’s a pro. Currently, my 4-year-old and 22-month old use it. This is a great outdoor or indoor toy and kids of all ages really do enjoy it. It has lasted through the years so I highly recommend getting it for your toddler.
Table and chairs

My daughter loves to sit at her table and play with her dolls. I got a sturdy, wooden table and two chairs from Ikea. If you want something neutral and timeless, choose a plain white table set or wood but these are made in all colors and styles. Here is a more colorful option Amazon but check other retailers for a variety of brands like Step 2 or Little Tikes for a retro classic look. We have moved this around the house many times to suit our needs at the moment. It’s used for eating, craft time, at-home learning, and of course, playtime.
Gift Ideas for Babies 24-36 Months Old
Skills Boards
Skills boards are fun, keep your kid busy and help them learn fine motor skills. We own the Melissa & Doug Basics skills board, which helps your kid learn how to do things like fasten buttons and zippers. These skills help them become independent and prepare them for dressing themselves. We also have the Melissa & Doug latches board, which helps your child learn numbers and how to maneuver simple locks and latches that might be found on doors, drawers and toys. There are many varieties of these but Melissa and Doug is a brand that I trust so I always recommend them.
Writing Board

Both of my girls enjoy writing but only one of them knows how to not write on the walls and furniture. Writing boards are a great alternative to crayons and paper and for younger ones, they can be just as entertaining as a table… or at least a distraction while your older one has a tablet. My girls have a Boogie Board, which they love but we recently purchased a water writing board for my almost 2 years old. Kids love to doodle and this is perfect for bringing out their creativity without the mess and keeping them busy without the use of screens.
