Not too long ago I remember seeing posts from my former high school and college classmates freaking out that their peers were having babies. All of a sudden those late 80’s & 90’s babies woke up and realized “Oh sh*t, it’s our turn!”. Now more and more of my peers, myself included, are parents and in my opinion, it’s an amazing change.
But of course, as millennials, nothing we do is without observation and scrutiny from Baby Boomers and Gen X’ers. Parenting is no different. When it comes to parenthood we are definitely doing it differently.
I think technology is a big factor in this. My child knows how to operate my iPhone and our X-box almost perfectly. Her little hands learn motor skills from touchpads as well as old-fashioned pen and paper. She has more puzzle apps on our iPad than actual puzzles in her room and some of her toys are even controlled by Bluetooth from my phone! Honestly, I don’t see an issue. The way we interact with our children is completely different than our predecessors. I am a proud self-proclaimed Millennial Mom and if you don’t know what that is, check out this list. You just might be one!
