Mother’s Day always sneaks up on me for some reason, which makes no sense because I am a mother! This is MY holiday and every year it always comes as a surprise. But we still have time so I decided to give you a few ideas for what to get the awesome, miracle-bearing woman in your life! I have previously written gift ideas for mother’s day so make sure you check out that post just in case none of these ideas work for you!
What to get her for Mother’s Day This Year
Hire a Cleaning Service for Mother’s Day
Every mom wants Mother’s Day to go smoothly. I can think of nothing better than a clean house and a meal that I didn’t have to cook as a gift on mother’s day. But that doesn’t mean I want my husband doing the cleaning (or the cooking lol). Love him, but his clean and a housekeeper’s clean isn’t the same thing! Gifting housekeeping services is the best solution. Having professionals come in and deep clean your house is a dream! To pull off this gift, find a reliable cleaning service near you (check those yelp reviews first!) and book it. Even if it isn’t on mother’s day it’s still a great gift.
Gifting A Plant (Instead of flowers)
A lot of people love flowers but more people love plants. Although I love flowers, not everyone shares that sentiment. For Valentine’s Day, my husband got me a box of preserved roses, that never ‘die’. While it was a ‘good idea’, they smelled like glue and plastic. Those roses were a crime against humanity. If you don’t like buying fresh-cut flowers or would like to switch things up, try buying a plant instead. If the person is a new plant mom with a black thumb try a snake plant or devil’s ivy. Here is a great list of hard-to-kill houseplants that will make great gifts. You can find these at Walmart and most home improvement stores like Lowes or Menards. A cluster of succulents is also a good choice!
Find a way to Support her Dream
Some of the best gifts I’ve gotten from my husband have been things that will help accomplish my content creator goals. My subscription to Adobe Lightroom and photoshop, my tripod, and podcast microphone were all gifts that I cherish and still use to this day. Think about whatever creative endeavors your recipient is into and buy gifts that support that. If she has a small business and needs custom shopping bags, labels or any branded items try PrintablePromotions.com. If she is a content creator, a subscription to Canva Pro, a new camera, or a ring light makes a great impression. These are expensive things that creatives often need but put off buying so this is a great way to step in and show your support of their dream.
Give her a Real Break
It has been a dream of mine and many moms to have a night (or 3) at a nice hotel room ALONE. Being a mom, especially a stay-at-home mom is a 24-hours, 7 days a week job. We are literally working from sun up to sun down and when we aren’t we are thinking & planning ahead to help the next day, week and month run smoothly. Having a quiet, clean room (that you didn’t have to clean) is the mental break a lot of us need. You can sweeten the deal by also gifting some items for self-care. I guarantee any mom left alone in a clean bathroom will be taking a bubble bath, so giving her a bath bomb, bubble bath, and a few candles is a great idea. If your budget allows, spring for a room with a jacuzzi tub or an AirBnB with a nice bathtub or pool for her to lounge by. The key to this gift is to allow her to have some peace and do as she pleases while you hold down the fort at home. Pro-tip: Don’t let her come home to a house in chaos. You can get away with it not being spotless but coming home to a long list of chores will wash away most of the rest she just got. Something to keep in mind!
Give her Weed or Wine
I am a cannamom and honestly, there are so many who just don’t say it. It’s fun, relaxing, and a great escape from the worries of daily life if I’m being honest. Any cannamom or person looking to switch things up and have some fun will appreciate this as a gift. Now that Marijuana is legal in most states and dispensaries are open, gifting a little Mary J is an easy and legal gift! If you don’t feel comfortable gifting weed, smoking accessories are also an option. Otherwise, a nice, big bottle of wine (or three) always goes over well. The McBride Sister’s Black girl Magic wine is really good and is now sold in Target! I also really love the wine from Cooper’s Hawk. When gifting wine, make sure you know what kind they like (sweet, bitter, red etc..) and get something of good quality if you can. Those two brands I suggested will work but you can also check out this list of great wines found in grocery stores.
I hope this short list helped your shopping! Always remember, the best gifts come from paying attention! If you sit around a mom long enough they’ll tell you a list of projects they are working on, things they have been looking at and what really interests them. Try to pull inspiration from there and you’ll be fine!
